The Buzz

Life Fitness Row GX Console

The Life Fitness rowing machines get very good reviews, from users and experts alike, as they are solidly built with great ergonomics making them feel very comfortable and natural.

The Row GX is the more expensive of the two offerings, at around $2200 or so when it's on sale vs. $1,800 for the Row HX Trainer.  The two machines look completely different as well.

The Row GX Trainer has a more modern look, with a single steel beam, fitting into a boutique gym or high tech basement setting, while the HX is more traditional, with dual natural wood beams.

Both machines are built to the same standards that the commercial rowing machines are...so you're getting the same workout you would get at the gym.  The Fluid Technology resistance system is extremely smooth, and you can transition from one resistance level to the next (16 in all) with the turn of a dial.

The transport wheels allow you to move the GX from one place to the next, and it stands straight up for easy storage.

The warranty is decent: you get 5 years on the frame, 3 years on tank and seals, 2 years mechanical and console,  and 90 days labor.

What We Say About the GX Rower

If you are in the market for a high-end rowing machine, the Life Fitness GX is a very good choice.  These machines are built to last, with very little maintenance required.

If you like the look of this one also check out the First Degree Fitness Pacific and Newport rowing machines, both of which are considerably less expensive than the GX.
